This activity is a project carried out by residents of Strenkali Kampung Baru-Jagir in collaboration with Serbuk Kayu and several collaborating artists. In this project, the residents and the artists involved will collaborate to create an activity that tells about the memories of the residents during their stay in Strenkali Jagir, how they tactics to maintain their residence. The boat becomes a symbol of one of the residents to respond to the problems they face and at the same time become a strategy for survival.

A BOAT OF PEOPLE’S MEMORIES

The memories of the residents of Kampung Baru Strenkali Jagir may be a little different from those of the general public because they live along the river and often suffer from eviction issues. Strenkali residents use ‘jogokali’ as a cultural strategy to establish their position as river guardians. The dynamics that occur related to memory are manifested in various practices carried out by residents. The things that happen are tried to be captured, and presented visually by the artists involved.
